CGB with fully automated grinding process

Longer service life of the roller cutter in less labour time

The main advantages are:
– reduced line downtime
– longer service life of roller cutters and cuttershafts
– no grinding dust on slitter (hygiene)
– minimal labour costs

Our cutter grinding bench (CGB) now offers a fully automated grinding process (repair or pre-grinding + fine grinding).

In contrast to grinding at the slitter, i.e. in the production line, where the process must be as fast as possible to minimise line downtime, “offline grinding” allows you to take the time you need. By taking longer to spark out after fine grinding, an optimally sharp cutting edge is achieved, which significantly increases its service life.

Both grinding discs, the one for repair or pre-grinding and the one for fine grinding, are automatically positioned on the roller cutter and accidental damage caused by manual positioning is avoided. The continuous feed rate during the grinding process is 0.01 mm/min.

For the steamship «Greif», its steam engine was overhauled by us authentically and with great care and attention to detail.

25 years Langhans Innotec

In the meantime, we can look back on 25 years of company history. During this time, we have been able to establish ourselves internationally through comprehensive service and innovative products in the field of 3-piece can production.

Another area in which we are passionately active is the overhaul of steam engines. With the overhaul of a very special steam engine, we made ourselves a present just in time for our 25th anniversary. With joy and pride, we were able to look back on shared experiences with some of our faithful companions on the “DS Greif” in beautiful weather, under the soothing puffing of the steam engine.

We thank all our customers and partners and look forward to further joint projects!

The 400th SQM delivered

At the end of April 2021, we have the pleasure of delivering the 400th SQM. The accessory device for slitters controls the squareness of sheets in order to avoid errors in the further production process and to increase line efficiency. The device convinces with its simple installation, reliable function and with the combination option for automatic sorting out of defective sheets.

Based on the experience with the SQM and our other quality control products, we have developed the powerful QMC for complete (!) quality control and fully-automatic sorting out of defective sheets.

Unique steam engine restored

We were entrusted with the restoration of the steam engine for the oldest steam ship in Switzerland.

1000 hours of work were required to carefully overhaul and technically improve this unique machine down to the smallest detail (auxiliary steam function and cylinder lubrication).

Blank Measuring Table with data handling

The BBM 1000 is the only off-line measuring device for measuring:

– blank strip width and bow cut for sheet metal strip
– height, length and angle for sheet metal blanks

New the device has wireless data transmission. The measurements are triggered by a foot pedal so that the sheet to be measured can be fixed with both hands.

Off-line Cutter Grinding

Even in factories with overpressure ventilation to protect against contamination, roller cutters are still ground on the slitter. This produces grinding dust which contains cobalt and tungsten carbide and can contaminate the slitter / blank / can.

„Off-line” grinding offers further advantages over conventional grinding in addition to zero contamination. For example a higher line efficiency, maximum operator safety, optimized grinding quality by regrinding without production pressure and a longer service life of the roller cutters as no contamination by carbide grinding dust occurs.

With an optional safety package including risk analysis, the Roller Cutter Grinding Table also meets the highest safety requirements.

Hygienic off-line grinding with the CGB is essential, especially in the production of cans for food, in order to meet the requirements of FSSC 2200 or the HACCP system!
